Report from the Zone Institute 2003

Gail and I just returned from Zone 31 and 32 Institute in Burlington, Vermont.
The intensive training for Governor Elects, Governor Nominees, District Trainers and Mentors began on Monday, August 25.
We arrived Wednesday afternoon and went on a delightful evening cruise on beautiful Lake Champlain where we had great fellowship meeting new Rotary friends.
The conference was attended by District Governors. District Governors Elect, Nominees, Past District Governors and District Trainers. The leadership consisted of R. I. Directors. R.I. Vice President Frank Collins, Past Vice President Abe Gordon, Past R.I. President Frank Devlyn, Special Director Sam Okudzeto from Ghana and most importantly, Rotary International President Jonathan Majiyagbe. The conference (The Road Back to Rotary) segment started Thursday morning with a great Plenary Assembly and comprehensive breakout sessions. Main topics covered were the Rotary International Foundation, Literacy and Education, Alleviation of Poverty, Council on Legislation, Strategic Planning, Rotary Centennial, Avenues of Service and most important the Eradication of Polio - R.I.'s top priority (Our Club New York 6 was recognized for its large contribution of $100,000).
Thursday evening we had a grand Class Reunion dinner where each class of Governors gathered with their theme jackets (see photo).
The gala black tie affair on Saturday evening where our own District Governor Elect Dong-Joon (Don) and Diane Lee were introduced by Governor David and Janice Sullivan along with his class of incoming- Governors of 2004-2005.
The closing Plenary Session on Sunday featured a wonderful presentation of next year's Rotary International's Convention which will take place in Osaka. Japan.
